Working within the Estimating team under the Cadence function, the incumbent is responsible for supporting and leading estimating activities for major infrastructure projects. The role contributes to the development of reliable cost estimates, continuous improvement of estimating practices, and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders to support project decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze project risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies;
- Contribute to the development and optimization of estimating tools, methodologies, and processes;
- Lead and support an estimating team (depending on the organizational structure), fostering professional growth and capability development;
- Coordinate activities with external partners, including suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants;
- Participate in the preparation of technical and financial proposals;
- Ensure appropriate reporting and present estimating outcomes to internal governance bodies and management teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- 10 to 15 years of experience in estimating and/or cost management on major infrastructure projects;
- Significant experience in heavy civil engineering, major infrastructure, or transportation projects;
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian construction market; experience in Québec and/or Ontario is considered a significant asset;
- Good understanding of estimating principles, risk assessment, contingencies, and estimate classification systems;
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; knowledge of additional estimating tools is considered an asset;
- Strong understanding of estimating methodologies applicable to complex projects, including AACE recommended practices and estimate classifications;
- Excellent command of both French and English, written and spoken.
