The cadence.info website aims to provide content that complies with the Standards for Web Accessibility (SGQRI 008 3.0) adopted by the Ministère de la Cybersécurité et du Numérique of the Government of Québec.
The website also aims to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
To ensure compliance with its website, Cadence designed and updated the site in accordance with the requirements of the SGQRI 008 3.0 standard and mandated a specialized firm to conduct formal and functional testing using the tools listed below.
Description of the measures put in place to ensure the site’s compliance
- Page titles describe their content.
- Navigation and access to all functionalities are fully operable using the keyboard.
- Navigation and presentation mechanisms are consistent from one page to another.
- Each page’s content is accessible through a direct link.
- Section headings follow a consistent hierarchical structure.
- Texts are written in clear and simple language.
- Informational images provide alternative text.
- Links have descriptive labels that facilitate navigation.
- Text can be enlarged up to 200% without loss of readability.
- Color contrast is sufficient to ensure good readability.
- Tables are simplified and properly marked up.
- Language changes are properly identified.
- Multiple ways to access content are provided: menus, search engine, and sitemap.
- Focus movement or data entry does not cause an unexpected change of context.
- Color alone is never used to convey information.
- Error messages are clearly identified and explain how to correct the relevant fields.
- A visible focus indicator is present for all interactive elements during keyboard navigation.
- Interactive components (buttons, menus, accordions) expose a clear name, role, and state.
- Dynamic messages (errors, results, updates) are announced to assistive technologies.
- Content adapts to different screen sizes without loss of information or horizontal scrolling.
- Manual testing, including keyboard navigation, was carried out in addition to automated tools.
Tools used to verify compliance
- NVDA + Chrome: the most commonly used combination among screen reader users.
- Axe DevTools (version 4.114.1): Chrome extension, including an HTML validator.
- Color Contrast Analyzer (version 2.5): used to verify color contrast.
