Senior Director, Transportation Systems

Working within the Projects Vice Presidency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of project development, including overseeing the appointment of and contractual structure for suppliers (engineering firms, ridership analysis specialists, financial modelers, independent certifiers, etc.);
  • Ensure that the project and the underlying contracts meet technical requirements within an acceptable risk profile;
  • Coordinate procurement activities, ensuring that all contracts are executed according to the required schedule and that their commercial and contractual obligations reflect the agreed project risk matrix and align with the provisions proposed for the implementation phase;
  • Lead and support the management and technical design direction in the development of the technical solution:
    • Drive integration and interfaces between suppliers and other stakeholders;
    • Monitor the design development, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning process, ensuring compliance with delivery schedules and requirements;
    • Support operations and maintenance teams to ensure effective coordination between procurement activities and key contracts;
    • Manage engineering execution risks, including impact assessment, proposed mitigation measures, and follow-up actions;
    • Oversee quality control and quality assurance activities;
    • Lead and manage transportation systems activities, including the safety case and handover processes required for the commissioning and operation of the project.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong systems-thinking approach and understanding of technical, operational, and contractual interdependencies;
  • Experience in interface management, risk management, validation, testing, and commissioning;
  • Ability to structure action plans, influence decision-makers, and advance complex issues within a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Excellent command of both French and English;
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, and creativity.

Desired Profile

  • Senior-level profile in systems integration, project engineering, or complex technical coordination;
  • Significant experience in environments involving extensive interfaces, contractual complexity, and integrated delivery requirements, ideally within the railway sector;
  • Cross-functional leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to align technical, operational, and project considerations.
