Your role within the team:
- Manages Cadence’s Community Engagement team, including staff dedicated to the implementation of Community Benefits.
- Oversees all community engagement tools and tactics and liaises with the Communications and Engagement Director and others as needed.
- Participates in Communications, Public, and Marketing Working Group and Public Consultation, including Indigenous Communities and Impact Assessment Working Group.
- Participates in strategic meetings with government authorities.
- Provides assistance, advice, knowledge, and support to Alto in managing the expectations of the various government agencies, municipal councillors, or provincial and federal elected officials.
- Provides strategic counsel and tactical support in Alto’s public consultation and engagement approach in Ontario and Québec in accordance with the IAP2 Spectrum.
- Develops, refines and updates a Community Benefits Plan, and supports Alto in the negotiations and implementation of Community Benefits Agreements with impacted communities.
- Tracks metrics such as social acceptability dashboard, and Stakeholder heat maps, to keep track and identify issues and trends as they emerge.
- Analyzes and anticipates matters of interest and concern to Alto, Stakeholders, or Rights Holders, and proactively propose solutions to address the situation or positive positioning to respond.
The ideal Director of Communications – Community Relations candidate:
- Holds a university degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field;
- Has a minimum of 15 years of experience in communications or public relations, including at least 10 years in strategic communications, community engagement, or complex project management;
- Demonstrates proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams within a matrix environment;
- Has a strong command of IAP2 principles and best practices in public consultation;
- Excels in negotiating and building partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, including Indigenous communities;
- Possesses advanced skills in social data analysis, stakeholder mapping, and performance indicator management;
- Shows highly analytical thinking, logical reasoning, strong planning abilities, and resilience;
- Is bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
